Apr 29, 2013 -- 4:23 pmThe Pittsburg State University Autism Certificate program is accepting applications for the 2013-2014 cohort (classes begin August 20). The year-long 15-18 credit hour certificate program is offered as a hybrid program and as a fully online program.
The hybrid program combines face-to-face or site-based interactive television instruction with online learning activities. The multi-site based program allows for real-time instruction/discussion, guided practice and feedback. With real-time interaction across multiple sites, educators are able to network with other professionals in their region, as many working in rural areas may be the only person in their school building or even school district who works with students with ASD. For the 2013-2014 cohort, sites are set-up in Hays, Lenexa, Pittsburg, & Salina. Additional sites may be added. Classes are on Tuesday evenings from 5:30 - 9:30 pm.
The fully online program allows teachers and related service professionals who prefer online learning or who may live too far from one the hybrid program sites to attend the program. Individuals in the fully online program view recorded lectures and related video content, and participate in online discussion and learning activities. Weekly or bi-weekly modules are designed so that the learner can access the content at a time that is convenient to their own schedule.
